A teaching sequence
Record programme milestones and reflection/supervision notes for review with a mentor or coordinator.
Confirm and mark milestones
Confirm which TOK, EE and CAS milestones the school expects in each year and term. Name each milestone and date it on the matching board, then shade or mark the steps as they are completed.
Which school-approved date belongs to this named milestone?
Record the CAS activity
Use the CAS log to record activity, hours, strands and a short reflection.
Have you marked every relevant strand and kept reflection within approved procedures?
Review the supervision log
Use the supervision log to record the topic and agreed next step, then review the records with the mentor or coordinator. Confirm dates and milestones with the programme coordinator.
What happens next, and who reviews it?
Before you teach
Look for the thinking behind an answer, choose the support your class needs and leave room for an independent response.
What to look for
Check that entries match the school’s actual milestones and that logs capture concise next steps or reflections. Ask: “What should happen next, and who needs to review it?” The template does not establish official deadlines or a student’s programme completion.
Give a little support
Share a local calendar and define programme abbreviations before the student fills the board. A mentor can help turn broad milestones into manageable next steps without adding unapproved deadlines.
Take the idea further
Add a local review date or mentor meeting, then record one change in next steps after the discussion. Follow the school’s programme procedures for any formal evidence or reflection.
Things to keep in mind
This is a planning aid, not an official IB schedule or evidence of meeting programme requirements. Confirm local milestones, deadlines and record-keeping with the school coordinator; do not store sensitive reflection beyond approved procedures.
Keep the idea. Make it yours.
Bring your topic, learning goal and class context to PLAI™, then review what you create.

Five More Minutes
The two-page planner gives TOK, Extended Essay and CAS boards across Year 1 and Year 2, each with term, date, mentor and ten shaded progress steps. A separate page records CAS activity and EE supervision notes.
Calm Table
For ages 16 to 18, the board gives a student and coordinator a place to review milestones across the Diploma core. The separate logs make activity hours, reflection and supervision next steps more visible than a single completion tick.
Page-Turner Planner
A mentor can use one term row at a time to discuss evidence and a next step, while the second page captures activity or meeting details. Keeping initials with each log entry helps identify who reviewed it.
Tea at Breaktime
The planner is a blank record and does not establish official deadlines or completion requirements. Confirm programme version and school calendar with the coordinator before entering milestones or interpreting shaded steps as formal status.
