A little about me

Mathematics is my teaching subject, and house leadership gives me a second way to work across the school. I run Cornbrook events for pupils in every year group, so participation has to be possible beyond the students who are already confident about joining in.

House-points summaries need to be clear enough to read aloud in assembly. If a report takes too long to explain, it is less useful in the moment when pupils hear it. I look for concise ways to show progress and for event ideas that give quieter pupils a genuine role.

The pastoral structure is divided by year, while house events bring different ages together. That means planning should make the activity and the information easy to understand across groups. My focus is on opportunities that include more than the most visible voices.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Summarise house points in a format that works when read aloud.

  2. Plan event roles that give quieter pupils a real way to take part.

  3. Make cross-year activities clear to pupils of different ages.
