A little about me

I teach Physical Education across the secondary phase and start planning with the pupil who may be least ready to join in. The strongest athlete in the group can often manage a task without much adjustment. I want activities to make a first step possible for everyone, then offer a clear way to practise and build on it.

Space and timing affect what a lesson can offer. When access to a field or outdoor area depends on shared schedules, teachers need a practical alternative that still serves the learning purpose. I look for plans that can adapt to the space available without losing the chance for pupils to move and participate.

I value resources that make expectations clear and support a range of starting points. A set of shared principles can help adults plan consistently, while specific activities need to respond to the group and conditions on the day. I want pupils to have a meaningful role in the lesson even when they are not the most confident or experienced.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Plan the first step for less confident pupils.

  2. Adapt the activity to the available space and timing.

  3. Keep participation meaningful across different starting points.
