I support Polish-language family communication through short, natural explanations, checking translated wording with a fluent speaker and someone who knows the family so meaning and tone remain clear.

A little about me

I work as an early years practitioner and support communication with families who prefer to use Polish. A translated letter needs to make sense to the person receiving it, not simply follow the wording of the original sentence by sentence. Tone and clarity matter because families need to understand what the setting is asking or explaining.

Family conversations can also help staff understand how a child is settling and what information needs to be shared with the room team. I want these exchanges to be clear and respectful, while keeping a child’s personal record with the professionals responsible for it.

I look for practical support that helps a team prepare short, accurate explanations and check them before they are shared. A resource can provide a structure or a first draft, but a fluent speaker and the person who knows the family should review the wording. I value language support that helps people understand one another rather than making communication feel like a form.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Translate for meaning and tone, not word substitution.

  2. Use family conversations to support settling and understanding.

  3. Have language-sensitive communication reviewed before sharing.
