A little about me

I am an early years apprentice and am building confidence by connecting what I learn in training with what happens in the room. Some situations are easier to think through when the steps are made plain: what to notice first, how to keep everyone safe and which colleague to involve.

Reflection helps me understand what I did during a shift and what I might try differently next time. I want to describe the situation accurately, identify what I learned and connect it with my professional development. A portfolio entry should be my account of real work, not a polished story written for me.

I look for resources that are practical and easy to follow. A short sequence, checklist or example can give me somewhere to start, while experienced colleagues provide the context and judgement that a guide cannot replace. I value support that helps me learn responsibly and recognise when I need to ask for help.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Use clear steps for unfamiliar situations.

  2. Reflect on real practice in your own words.

  3. Ask an experienced colleague when context or safety needs more judgement.
