Physical Education teacher
I welcome pupils joining secondary PE during the year through a manageable first task, clear demonstrations and familiar routines, building from the experience they bring to the group.
Explore the collectionI teach Physical Education across the secondary phase. Pupils may join a class during the year and bring different experiences of sport and school with them. I want a lesson to make its purpose clear and give each pupil a way to take part, even when the activity is unfamiliar.
A warm welcome needs practical follow-through. I look for a manageable first task, clear demonstrations and a chance to learn the routines before expectations increase. The teacher can notice what pupils already know and decide what support will help them join the group.
I value resources that are flexible enough for a mixed starting point. Activities should help pupils practise movement and cooperation without assuming everyone has followed the same previous programme. A good sequence lets a newcomer enter the learning, understand what to do and build from there.
