A little about me

I teach Year 2 and lead Computing and online safety. In the classroom, I look for chances to let children choose a next step rather than follow every instruction from me. Independence grows when the task is clear and pupils have a manageable decision to make.

Online safety is easier to discuss when it connects with situations children may meet. I want pupils to recognise a choice, think about what information is appropriate and know when to ask an adult for help. Abstract warnings are less useful than a calm conversation about what someone could do next.

I value resources that make a situation understandable without frightening pupils or assuming they already know the answer. A short scenario can prompt discussion, while a teacher clarifies what is safe and who can help. I want Computing and online-safety learning to give children practical language and confidence to pause and seek support.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Give pupils manageable choices that build independence.

  2. Use age-appropriate online situations to prompt discussion.

  3. Make it clear when and how to ask an adult for help.
