Head of Year 11 and Biology teacher
I bring Year 11 pastoral attention together with Biology teaching, noticing difficulty early and using questions, diagrams and explanations to decide where a follow-up or support is needed.
Explore the collectionI lead Year 11 and teach Biology. In an examination year, important deadlines are visible to everyone, but a pupil can still struggle quietly. I want teachers to notice signs early and offer support before a concern becomes urgent. Tracking is most useful when it leads to a timely conversation or a practical change in teaching.
Biology gives pupils concepts and processes to explain, not only terms to memorise. I look for ways to make their thinking visible through a question, a diagram or a short explanation. When a response is incomplete, that gives me a starting point for a follow-up rather than a reason to assume the pupil has nothing to contribute.
I value resources that clarify what pupils need to do and help teachers identify where to respond. A checklist or review point can support organisation, but it should not replace a conversation with the pupil or the teacher’s knowledge of the subject. I want academic planning and pastoral attention to work together while keeping individual information private.
