A little about me

I teach French and Physical Education across Key Stage 2 and cover classes while teachers have planning time. Moving between groups means I need clear handovers and activities that make sense without a long introduction.

In French, I start with spoken language and use songs and familiar routines to help pupils get used to hearing the language. Writing can follow once pupils have something to connect it with. In Physical Education, clear demonstrations and active practice help pupils understand what to do and take part.

I look for resources that are easy to adapt across Years 3 to 6. A short language prompt, song or movement sequence can give a class a shared starting point. I value practical planning that helps pupils learn across subjects and helps the next teacher know what happened during a cover lesson. Consistent routines make that sequence easier to follow.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Use spoken French before expecting written production.

  2. Use song and routine to make language familiar.

  3. Leave a clear handover for class teachers after cover.
