A little about me

I work as a learning support assistant in Year 3 and provide support in line with an agreed plan. Consistency matters: using the same visual timetable, clear steps and calm language can help a pupil understand what is happening and what they can do next.

Support needs to fit the pupil and the lesson. I look for ways to make a task understandable, give enough time for communication and share observations with the teacher responsible for planning. A handover helps the team use the agreed approach across different parts of the day.

I value resources that make routines visible and let adults record what was tried. A visual prompt can support participation, but it does not replace the relationship or judgement of the people working with the pupil. I want the plan to guide consistent practice while leaving room to respond to what the child communicates.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Use agreed visual routines consistently.

  2. Give clear steps and calm language.

  3. Share observations with the teacher leading the plan.
