A little about me

I lead Music and teach across the primary school. Because classes meet for Music at a regular point in the week, I want repertoire and listening choices that give pupils something worth exploring and returning to. A sequence should help them hear patterns, try an idea and talk about what they notice.

I also cover planning time for class teachers, so communication matters. A short handover can tell a teacher what happened, what pupils worked on and what might be useful to revisit. That helps classroom learning continue without pretending that one note can capture everything about the lesson.

I look for resources that are practical to prepare and meaningful in use. A listening prompt or clear activity structure can help pupils focus, while the teacher adapts it to the class. I value Music plans that make limited lesson time count through active listening, making and reflection.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Choose repertoire that offers something pupils can revisit.

  2. Use listening questions to focus attention.

  3. Leave clear handovers for class teachers.
