A little about me

I manage an early years setting and hold safeguarding responsibility. The role brings together decisions about practice, communication and the conditions staff need to care for children well. I look for ways to make those responsibilities clear without letting urgent administration take attention away from the children and team.

Writing and arithmetic can be easier to review when the reasoning is laid out plainly. I value a clear first draft of a letter, a checked calculation or a chance to rehearse a difficult conversation. The final decision and any communication still need my own judgement and a careful check of the facts.

I am particularly attentive to privacy. A child’s name or personal record does not belong in an unapproved tool or draft. I want resources to help adults organise their thinking while keeping sensitive details within the appropriate professional process and making sure family-facing information is accurate and respectful.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Keep safeguarding and privacy central to information handling.

  2. Use clear drafts and calculations as support for professional review.

  3. Check accuracy and tone before family communication.
