I adapt games through space, equipment and roles so pupils with different confidence and experience can practise, make decisions and contribute while keeping the activity’s purpose clear.

A little about me

I teach Physical Education across the primary years and organise fixtures. In lessons, I want every child to be moving and involved, not spending a term waiting on the side. Activities need a clear way in for pupils with different levels of confidence and experience.

Participation does not mean removing challenge. I look for ways to adapt a game so pupils can practise, make decisions and contribute to a team. A teacher can change the size of a space, the equipment or the role while keeping the purpose of the activity clear.

Fixtures and games also need careful organisation so pupils know what is happening and adults can support them. I value resources that make the rules, roles and next steps easy to understand. A positive experience in Physical Education comes from being active, learning together and seeing that everyone has a part to play.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Make a route into the activity for every pupil.

  2. Adapt roles and equipment while preserving the challenge.

  3. Explain fixtures and game expectations clearly.
