Second in Physical Education

I connect GCSE PE theory with practical sport, choosing examples and exam questions that help students explain a concept in terms of the activity they experience.

A little about me

My week moves between practical Physical Education and GCSE theory, and I also coordinate off-site fixture logistics. Students should be able to recognise the connection between what they do in sport and the concepts they meet in a classroom lesson.

I look for exam-technique material that gives that connection a clear place. Theory can feel detached when pupils are asked to learn terms without seeing how they relate to practical work. The examples and questions should help them explain a concept in a way that still makes sense beside the activity.

Fixtures bring another kind of planning. Coach bookings and off-site arrangements need coordination, while teaching has to cover both practical participation and the written course. Keeping those demands in view helps me choose material that speaks to the subject as students experience it.

How I approach a lesson

  1. Anchor GCSE theory questions in concepts pupils can connect to practical PE.

  2. Use exam practice to build an explanation, not only recall terminology.

  3. Coordinate fixture logistics alongside the subject’s classroom teaching.
